Every citizen is allowed a free credit report every 12 months. There are a lot of scams online that try and get you to pay for this free service. Don't fall for it.
There are three ways to get the free reports:

MAIL: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.
(A form must be printed from http://ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/credit
